Chapters 23-27

This is the final part in the story where it all comes together. Will Giles realize his selfish ways before it’s too late? or will everything fail and all of humanity sent to a jail in space? A very important quote is when Tula says "the Stellar Nursery is the most inhospitable place in the entire universe. There is only one-in ten chance you'll survive"(233) At this point in the book he has saved the world and he is just trying to save his Grandma in a selfless act. This part is similar to the movie 300 where all 300 Spartans sacrifice themselves for Greece to prepare for the Persian army which is another selfless act. Although this is a cliché considering it happens a lot in movies it shows how developed the characters have become and that they are willing to sacrifice themselves for others. When Giles says "It tasted like every delicious thing I’d ever sipped. Every butterscotch shake, every hot fudge malt, every can of mountain dew, every strawberry-banana-acai smoothie."(238) this shows taste imagery very well.  Also when Giles says "shrouded in bloody mist, veined with lightning." shows imagery quite well also because you can really picture yourself being there. The main reason why I liked this novel was because of the fact that is so open to anything and was very relatable on a lot of levels including. The fact that he doesn't like his brother, also how he says dude a lot which is uncommon from the books that I normally read but it’s a nice change. All in all I felt this novel had some I unnecessary points and some points that they missed. But it thought it was pretty good.
Chapters 19-22

This Part of the story is the climax where Giles is racing around trying to save the city. At one point Giles says "When you're a super hero, you can do stuff like that"(170) I find this very strange because in the beginning of the novel Giles is a just a shy awkward kid, and now he thinks of himself as a superhero?. In my opinion it seems like he is getting a bit over confident which may be fore-shadowing for something that happens later on in the book. I think Giles is similar to Batman in the  movie The Dark Knight Rises when batman goes into fight Bane even when Alfred said that bane was a better fighter, and then Bane breaks Batman's back. I could see something like this happening to giles because he thinks he is a super hero. Another important quote is when Giles says to his girlfriend/lawyer "Lets just get one thing straight. I don't need you stepping in and saving the day". This is another example of fore-shadowing, I think that Giles is going to try to do something by himself and fail. This is similar to a Dr Who episode where the Doctor is trying to save the world and he doesn't let his partner help resulting in him having to regenerate. Do you think Giles is going to realize his mistakes? or will something happen to him resulting him to figure it out?

Chapters 14-18

This is when the story really starts to take shape and the action begins build. Giles says “I’ve got a girlfriend! I’ve got a girlfriend! And that’s all of chapter 15 and then chapter is" hey dude guess what I’ve got a girlfriend! So Giles is dating his lawyer which added another twist to this already crazy story. This is really important because it could change Giles actions when he is trying to save the world. This is important to me because it shows that Giles isn’t as shy or scared as it seemed it shows that he is brave and outgoing. This relates to tons of movies and books when the hero gets the girl but i related to Percy Jackson in the fifth book of the series he finally starts dating the girl he has been on all these quests with. One thing Giles says to the reader is "hey reader, i have a confession to make i just love being me". This is very strange because he is still possibly getting evicted from the planet and although everything seems to be running smooth. I think this is the time everything is going to go wrong and then the test starts...

 Chapter 8-13

Chapter eight starts of by Giles telling you he can tell three kids about his quest, he first told his little sister. But he doesn’t want to tell his older brother Tula said “As your lawyer I strongly recommend that you tell your brother about this quest" on page 72 this is very important because everyone but Giles knows that they needed Giles older brother. I think the only reason why Giles won’t tell is brother is that he is jealous of him and wants to save the world by himself. Really though how far is Giles really going to go to prove he can do this by himself? I think Giles has changed a lot already when he started out as a guy who thought that he was a bit of a loser himself to a guy who says that he can do this without his brother. I don’t think what Giles did was very smart i personally, no matter how much i disliked my brother if he was that smart I would tell him about an alien invasion. Luckily he eventually tells bobby (his older brother) about the alien invasion. One problem that Giles has is that he needs to get people to have environmental awareness and he got call from Navida (who blogs about the environment) and he helps her blog get views by putting a commercial on a billboard yes a commercial, I would do something like this if I had alien technology if I didn’t have alien technology I would put up posters all around the city (which is know is kind of sad compared to a commercial on a billboard). Now I wonder if all the pieces will fall together and see if they can save the world.

Chapter 4-7

In these chapters is where the story really takes off, Giles meets an alien who takes him to a giant court house because his planet is getting evicted. Where he is told if he can clean up Manhattan Island the humans will get to stay on earth. One quote tat i thought was very significant was when Giles says "Grandma called us kids her RFLs which means reason for living" on page 31. The author didn’t emphasise this too much but i think it shows that the Grandma really loves her grandkids but it also shows that the Grandma as some serious issues. I felt the significance of this because it is very important to show what kind of person the Grandma is as well. I felt this was somewhat like the movie accepted where he the main character is looked down on by his parents because his little sister is super successful. Just like in this book where Giles older brother is really smart and his younger sister was a prodigy musician .Although this is a very common situation for a plot in books and movies.  Tula was faced with a large problem where the human race was going to get evicted but Tula found a clause where they had to clean up Manhattan in 24 hours. This seems like an exciting book i cant wait to see the ideas they come up with to clean manhattan.
Chapters 1-3

This journal post is about the 1st to 3rd chapters I chose a quote because it is very important and the it is "im miserable" this is very important because it shows that Giles isnt having a good time in life right now. this is also important to the book because it starts off giving giles some character right away and makes him seem immediately human and as a character gives him depth. Another thing he does is complain about how is brother is perfect in his parents minds aswell as his sister,  which shows that he is sort of the outcast of his family. He also talks about his poetry which makes him very different than almost every character ive seen in other books and movies. I don't think this is a bad thing its nice to see a little change from your average delinquent bad boy character is your average book. In chapter three it jumps right into the aliens where he sees a spaceship, this i thought was a little weird because it was pretty much the second chapter because the first one is two words. Although i felt reading these three chapters that this book is going to be a intresting read.

Number of pages: 245

I chose this book because at first I thought the book cover was pretty cool so I picked it up and I have always been interested in aliens which is why I decided to read it. Another reason is it also talks about the environment which I thought would be interesting to see how it was incorporated into a book. The last reason why I wanted to read it is I’m really hoping they leave space because I want to see what the author has come up with for where they go. I’m expecting for this book to be about cleaning up the environment and preventing the humans from getting kicked off of earth. I think this book is also going to touch on the main character Giles and his love life because he says that he has a crush on is lawyer. One more thing that this story is going to include is Giles becoming friends with his brother again.
